When my friend, casting director, Karen Hallford called me to say she was sending me info about a lovely girl that could be right for my agency, I could not have imagined that I would get such a brilliant talent, that is the lovely and very accomplished, Kate St. Clair.
If you asked Kate what she wanted to be as a child, or what she still wants to be today, she will give you the same answer: she wants to be a Story-teller. Being an only child, she found imagination essential, creating vast worlds and characters in her head, and as she got older, she carried the practice with her. At a young age, her godmother took her onto her first movie set, where she got a taste of what it would be like to play pretend for a living. Since then, she pursued her passion to tell stories, both on the screen and on the page.
She enrolled herself in a performing arts boarding school in California, and published her first book before she'd turned nineteen (Spelled, the first of the Sayers Witch Series, won the 2014 Moonbeam Award for YA.) She's currently trying to find a way to bridge both of her loves, acting and writing, by converting her books to screenplays. Although it's a hefty order for anyone, Kate is determined to follow the Lena Dunham path, writing her own challenging parts, and acting in them with all she's got. There is no plan B for Kate.
So, thank you, Karen, I owe you one!
